The Andrew County Museum depends on the help and support of volunteers to preserve the history of Andrew County. Volunteers help the museum support our mission.The museum enables its volunteers to connect with the Andrew County community by interacting with visitors and other community organizations. Museum staff strives to create worthwhile and interesting volunteer experiences. Museum volunteers learn new skills while exploring the history of Andrew County.

Volunteer Opportunities
COLLECTIONS
Volunteers in Collections will assist the Curator by researching and caring for all collections for which the museum has assumed responsibility. Volunteers may be asked to:
- Catalog, photograph, and mark artifacts
- Enter catalog records into the museum’s collections database
- Inventory artifacts by accounting for their location and condition
- Sew or build storage and exhibit supports for artifacts
- Help install temporary exhibits
ADMINISTRATIVE
Administrative volunteers assist the Director and Administrative Assistant. They may serve as front desk greeters and museum store clerks, or help the staff with mailings and publicity on an as-needed basis.
EDUCATION
Education volunteers generally serve on the education committee which meets regularly to discuss ongoing educational programming at the museum. Volunteers are available to assist in the development of on-site and off-site programming including lectures, tours, travelling trunks, and museum visits for schools and the public.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Special events volunteers can help plan and coordinate museum special events by serving on these event committees. Volunteers may also assist the museum during special events as a greeter, server, photographer, or entertainer at events.
GENEALOGY
Genealogy volunteers maintain the genealogy library by researching Andrew County families, indexing existing records, and collecting new records to add to the library. These volunteers also assist researchers in the library.
BUILDING & GROUNDS
Building and grounds volunteers generally accept responsibility for a specific area of the museum’s building and grounds or by offering to help when the museum needs an individual with a specific skill. Volunteers may choose to:
- Trim trees and shrubs on museum property
- Ensure the museum’s flower garden is well-maintained by weeding, trimming, and planting as needed
- Change light bulbs as needed in the museum
- Provide hands-on maintenance assistance according to their skills
