    The Genealogy Department has recently expanded and serves hundreds of researchers each year. It is the only depository for vital Andrew County Records and has recently published a second record of Andrew County history – one of 24 Genealogy Department publications. The Genealogy Department includes the following types of records for Andrew County:

    • Census Records: State of Missouri Census 1830, 1840, 1850; Andrew County Census 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930. Andrew County Slave Owner census 1850 and 1860. Buchanan County Census 1840, 1850, 1860 (indexed)
    • Probate Records: 1841-1985 (indexed)
    • Vertical file and index of research conducted by genealogy department and other researchers
    • Newspapers: Microfilm copies of the Savannah Reporter from its beginning April 1876-1932. We also hold many paper volumes but these cannot be handled for preservation reasons. We also have some microfilm copies of The Andrew County Democrat and other early newspapers.
    • Obituaries: Many obituaries are available for copying. An index is being prepared and ongoing.

    • Birth and Death Records: selected years on microfilm
    • Land Records: index on microfilm, microfilmed records 1841- about 1885
    • Andrew County Platt books, 1877, 1897, 1909, and 1926. These show the landowners. Also The Picture Book of Andrew County 1904.
    • School Yearbooks: some Savannah High School, Savannah Junior High, North Andrew, Fillmore, and Rosendale yearbooks.
    • Surrounding counties, limited information: Buchanan, Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, Dekalb, Clay, Clinton, and Platt.
    Several books of interest to genealogists are available for purchase at the Andrew County Museum store.
