Museum Store
The Andrew County Museum Store offers a selection of history publications and traditional and vintage reproduction toys and games. During the Civil War Sesquicentennial, the store is highlighting publications on that conflict and the issue of slavery such as Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era (1988) for which historian James McPherson won the Pulitzer Prize. The store is open during regular museum hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM to 4PM). Mark Twain: Humorous Stories and Sketches (1996)
Native Missourian Mark Twain’s inimitable blend of humor, satire and masterly storytelling earned him a secure place in the front rank of American writers. This collection of eight stories and sketches, among them the celebrated classic “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,” shows the great humorist as the top of his form. Other Twain classics are also available as Thrift Editions designed for both adults and youngsters, including Life on the Mississippi (1883) and Huckleberry Finn (1885).
Ambrose Bierce, Civil War Stories (1994)
Newspaperman, short-story writer, poet and satirist, Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914) stands among the most striking and unusual literary figures that America has ever produced. During the Civil War, he enlisted in the Indiana infantry. Most of the sixteen stories in the above collection are based on Bierce’s recollections of the war. The store carries other Thrift Editions on the Civil War and slavery, including Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage (1895) and the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass (1845).

In 2009, the Andrew County Museum opened the exhibit A Rural Way of Life. Andrew County: A Community (Vols. I & II)
The Museum Store offers local and regional history publications. These include the two volumes of Andrew County: A Community (1980 & 2000). These indispensible reference works on local history contain information on rural communities, local businesses, houses of worship, civic groups, and prominent families. These stories about Andrew County people and places are liberally illustrated with historic photographs. Each volume is now available for one-half the original publication price of $50. Newspaper Gleanings of Andrew County and Surrounding Areas (1986)
The museum store also offers Newspaper Gleanings of Andrew County and Surrounding Area (1986). The authors made every effort to extract information of genealogical value from the pages of the Savannah Reporter beginning with the first issue in 1876. Cost per copy is $20.00 plus shipping and handling.

The museum store carries a selection of traditional and vintage games and toys. Since an increasing number of consumers now express an interest in “Buying American,” many toys and games bear the “Made in the USA” brand.
Home Base Ball Game
Based on a late 19th-century board game, the Home Base Ball Game brings tabletop fun to the families of today. Also packaged in attractive tins are The Game of Golf, Jumbo Jacks and Tiddly Winks. Rules of play are included.
